"1,500 Russian troops and 300 units of military equipment, including a Grad missile systems, has crossed the Ukrainian-Russian border on 7 and 8 February," said a spokesman Ukrainian military, Andrily Lysensko told reporters in Kiev as reported by AFP on Monday (02/09/2015).
There has been no response from the government and the Russian military on this matter. However, the Ukrainian government and Western countries are often accused Russia supports the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. This accusation has been repeatedly denied by the Russian government.
Violence in eastern Ukraine has risen in the last month, with the increasing onslaught of attacks pro-Russian separatists.
According to the Ukrainian military, the most ferocious firefight so far, occurred in the city and at the crossroads Debaltseve northeast city of Donetsk. The local police chief, Vyacheslav Abroskin said seven civilians were killed in fighting in Debaltseve and in town Avdiivka on Sunday, February 8th local time.
The conflict that hit parts of eastern Ukraine has been going on since April 2014 ago. According to UN agencies, about 5,358 lives have been cut during the prolonged conflict.
